Introduction: Ultrasound-computer-craniocorpography (US-COMP-CCG) affords an objective, simple and reliable method in the examination of the balance system disorders. Using ultrasound-markers on head and shoulders, it registers and analyzes the numerical data of the statokinetic tests in patients suffering from vertigo or any balance disorder. The interpretation is based on the measuring of amplitudes for head and shoulders sways (separately), linear and angular displacement and rotation.

Aims: the aim of the study is to compare the parameters of the vestibulospinal tests (Romberg and Unterberger-Fukuda) in several vestibular disorders, especially in Méniére’s disease and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).

Methods: Overall of patients examined were 512. As a first step, patients were divided into 4 groups: normal vestibular system (165), Méniére’s disease (57), BPPV (111), and other peripheral vestibular disorders (179). Menière patients were divided into three grades according to attacks rate and the complaints of attack-free period.

Results: The parameter’s values results, in most of the disorders showing off the deterioration of the vestibular system are the longitudinal sway, the lateral sway and the forehead covering of the stance test. The lateral sway in standing test is significantly pathological in Méniére’s disease. Moreover, the value of the angular deviation is significantly pathological in Méniére’s disease and in the group of other vestibular disorders. Results show the deterioration of vestibular system in different grades of Méniére’s disease.

Conclusions: US-COMP-CCG is a helpful method in the examination of the balance system disorders, especially of the statokinetic tests, but it is not sufficient alone for the diagnostic differentiation between the different disorders. In addition, US-COMP-CCG could be essential in the follow-up of the patient.
