Introduction: Nowadays the concept of prevention and the screening tests becoming more and more popular. We can inform about its importance and the widening range of possibilities from many different sources. A number of screening tests are available for adults and children, based on their age, gender, genetic or various environmental risk factors. Over the past decades, it have been proven, that many diseases can be treated easier and more cost-effectively, if we recognize these diseases in an early stage. Screening tests increase the patient's chances of survival and reduce the risk of serious health damage.
Aims: The objective of our work is to review the situation of health screening tests and evaluate it in Hungary.
Methods: We analysed professional sources during our research, we rely on the data of professional sources of the country and international literature, as well as the data of The Comprehensive Health Tests Program of Hungary.
Results: In comparison with other European countries, Hungary is behind the average in terms of screening tests volume, the participation in screening test are also not as good as expected, despite the opportunities. Screening tests are becoming more and more personalized in the future: weareable body sensors inside and outside of our body, genome sequencing and artifical intelligence can support to monitoring minute physiological changes in time.
Conclusion: The possibilities are expanding, technology is developing rapidly. However, the key probably lies in people's attitude, including how well they will be able to take advantage of the available opportunities. Screening tests can only achieve their goal if people can integrate them to be a part of their lives.
