Összefoglaló szövege

The Effect of Exergames on the Fatigue of Individuals Facing Cancer
Introduction: fatigue symptoms have a prevalence of up to 96% among patients being treated for cancer. Exergaming is exercising through videogames can reproduce the practice of light- to moderate-intensity physical activity when used with combined whole-body movements.
Aims: We aimed to investigate the effect of exergaming on fatigue in cancer patients during active treatment by identifying current published research.
Methods: A comprehensive search of the literature was performed to identify peer-reviewed journal articles that included the use of digital health interventions including exergames among patients during cancer treatment. The search was conducted via PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library.
Result: Assessing Fatigue score change after gaming interventions at five eligible studies suggests a tendency to reduce fatigue by exergames (SMD=0.72, CI [0.27,1.17]).
Conclusion: Exergames are promising tools to reduce fatigue in oncological care.
Funding: This study is funded by Semmelweis University and the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship.
